Who are we?
Kakegawa －Home of GIAHS certified "Tea-grass integrated system"
Our teas use tea leaves harvested in Kakegawa, Shizuoka that is famous for the deep steamed tea and one of the largest tea producing regions in Japan.
Especially the Higashiyama area where our retail store is named after, is situated at 600m above sea level, east of Mt. Awagatake. It has a perfect condition for growing high quality tea due to the fact that Mt. Awagatake protects the area from the wintery cold wind. There is a big difference in temperature between day and night, and gravelly soil also makes this area an ideal location for tea plantation.
A traditional tea farming method performed around Higashiyama called "Tea-grass integrated system" was certified by GIAHS in May 2013.
